Waste Removal
Yard Waste Disposal
As a part of Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) permit conditions for the expansion of the Sandtown Landfill and Jones Crossroads Landfill, a ban on the disposal of yard waste was put into effect as of January 1, 2011 for all of Kent and Sussex Counties. This means that yard waste, such as grass, leaves, tree limbs up to four inches (4”) in diameter, shrubs and garden material, must be separated from common household waste and cannot be included in weekly trash pickup. Residents of the City of Harrington may bring these items to Public Works at 102 Franklin Street for disposal every Wednesday, March through June, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.* Should you have any questions, please feel free to call City Hall at 398-3530.
*Proof of residency is required at time of disposal.
