Utility and Tax Information
Utility Billing
Billing will be sent out to property owners quarterly on January 1st, April 1st, August 1st, and October 1st, or the closest business day following. These are back-billed, meaning that they include the three months before the billing date. This means that the April 1st bill will include water, sewer, and trash from January, February, and March.
Payments are due in full by the 10th day of the following month. Postmarks will not be accepted.
Tax Billing
Property tax billing will be done annually on July 1st, or the first business day following. Discounts are reviewed annually by City Council and may be available.
The City of Harrington receives all property tax information from Kent County. However, if you feel as if your property tax bill is incorrect, please contact the City Clerk at either billing@cityofharrington.com or at 398-3530 immediately after receiving your bill.
Payment Methods
Payment can be made with cash, check, money order, credit card, or debit card. A convenience fee will be applied to balance if paying with debit or credit card. Payments dropped off after hours in the door slot will be applied the next business day.
*Please see Chapter 180 of General Code for a complete listing of all City fees adopted as last amended on 10-15-2007 by the Mayor and City Council. Properties are taxed by Kent County at a rate of $0.31/$100.
